David Price to opt out of 2020 MLB Season
David Price has announced he won't be participating in the upcoming abridged MLB season.
Price made the announcement on social media Saturday, saying "I have decided it is in the best interest of my health and my family's health for me to not play this season."
While several other players have excused themselves from the season, Price is arguably the biggest name to do so... the left-hander had been expected to be the Dodgers' No. 3 starter, behind Walker Buehler and Clayton Kershaw.
Price was traded to the Dodgers from Boston this off-season.... After the coronavirus pandemic put the Major League season in jeopardy and inevitably caused the cancellation of the minor league season, Price reportedly used his own money to pay Dodgers minor leaguers $1,000 each.
Price is under contract through the 2022 season. Unless he's deemed to be a high-risk individual, he'll forfeit his salary from this season, which is more than $10 million.
