Mike Trout has made his intentions clear with two simple words: “I’m playing.”
Trout confirmed to the LA Times that he will be on the field for the 2020 MLB season after originally being undecided due to COVID-19.
Trout had previously expressed his reservations about playing during the pandemic when he initially reported to camp in July, but says he is now encouraged by the league's health and safety protocols. The three-time AL MVP does still plan to leave the team for the birth of his first child, due in August.
The Angels open their regular season Friday night against the A’s in Oakland.
