Fernando Tatis Jr. hits a GrandSlam and sheds light on MLB's unwritten rules
San Diego Padres Fernando Tatís Jr. swung on a 3-0 pitch count and hit a grand slam against the Rangers on Monday and apparently he wasn’t supposed to?
The Padres were up by seven runs in the 8th inning when Tatis hit a grand slam. Tatís said he wasn't aware he had done anything people might object to-but some people did object and now this hit is shedding light on the unwritten rules of baseball.
San Diego manager Jayce Tingler, told reporters that, “ It's a learning opportunity and that's it. He'll grow from it. This game, in particular, we had a little bit of a comfortable lead."
At what point are teams in a comfortable lead and can players not swing on 3-0 count? Sports Illustrated host Kaitlin O'Toole is joined by SI's writer Stephanie Apstein for more on this.
