Hall of Fame Pitcher Tom Seaver Passes Away at Age 75
Hall of Fame pitcher and Mets legend Tom Seaver has passed away. He was 75 years old.
The baseball Hall of Famer announced that Seaver died Monday from complications of Lewy body dementia and COVID-19.
Seaver also known as "Tom Terrific" won an MLB-best 25 games in the 1969 season and also led the New York Mets to an improbable World Series victory that same year.
The Mets paid tribute to Seaver in a tweet on Wednesday saying, “We are devastated to learn about the passing of Mets legend and baseball Hall of Famer Tom Seaver, He was simply the greatest Mets player of all time, and among the best to ever play the game”
Seavers number 41 was the first player number ever retired by the organization in 1988.
