Detroit Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire has announced his retirement prior to Detroit's game against the Cleveland Indians and General manager Al Avila said the retirement was effective immediately. Bench coach Lloyd McClendon will take the mantle of manager for the rest of the MLB season.
