2020 MLB Playoffs: Houston Astros Heading to ALCS After Game 4 Win vs. Oakland Athletics
The Houston Astros are advancing to the American League Championship Series for their 4th consecutive time. With an 11 run attack on 14 hits, the Astros beat the A’s 11-6 in Game 4 of the ALDS on Thursday.
Houston is now the first team in MLB history to reach the final 4 after posting a losing record during the regular season. The Astros were (29-31) going into the postseason.
However, in the postseason Houston has gone 5-1, eliminating two division champions — the Twins and A's. The A’s had a commanding 4-0 lead in Game 4 but Astro’s Michael Brantley and Carlos Correa hit homers in the fourth inning driving in 5 runs and stealing the lead, not the signs.
Home runs seemed to be the theme throughout this ALDS series, as 24 were hit in the 4 game series between the 2 teams. Carlos Correa has now reached 45 career postseason RBI’s which is the second most for a shortstop in MLB History behind Derek Jeter.
The Astros will now await the winner of the Yankees and Rays and are just 4 wins from their 3rd AL pennant in four years.
