Former Mariners CEO/President Kevin Mather made comments at a local Rotary Club meeting which lead to his resignation. The comments, which included (but were definitely not limited to) service time manipulation, a practice which can lessen the earning potential of younger players. The MLBPA released a statement saying the Mather situation is indicative of a prevalent problem throughout the league.
