Aaron Judge Making Progress Towards New York Yankees Return
He's making major progress towards a return.
New York Yankees superstar outfielder Aaron Judge played five innings in a sim game on Tuesday at the team's complex in Tampa Bay.
During this sim game, Judge hit a home run and took several at-bats, played the field and ran the bases as well.
A talent evaluator told Erik Boland of Newsday that Judge did not appear to be favoring his injured toe during the sim game.
According to manager Aaron Boone, they're taking a day-by-day approach with Judge. However, Boone wouldn't rule out the return of his superstar for the Yankees' series against the Baltimore Orioles this weekend.
Boone also said the Yankees haven't committed to having Judge go out on a rehab assignment yet or not, leaving everything on the table for a possible return without one.
The Yankees have been without Judge since June 3 when he torn ligaments in his right big toe by crashing through the fence at Dodger Stadium.
The Yankees have gone 18-22 without Judge and desperately need his bat back in their lineup.
New York entered play on Tuesday night against the Mets with a 53-47 record and 2.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot in the American League.
