He is back in town.

On Monday, first baseman Luke Voit signed a minor league deal with the New York Mets.

Voit has been assigned to Triple-A Syracuse and will be active on Tuesday.

Voit was with the Milwaukee Brewers this season, but was released by the organization on June 2.

In 22 games this year, the 32-year-old slashed just .221/.284/.265 with a .549 OPS, no home runs and four RBIs.

Voit's best big-league days came with the Yankees, who he played for from 2018-2021.

The St. Louis Cardinals traded Voit to the Yankees at the 2018 trade deadline. He proceeded to claim the starting first base job by slugging 14 home runs and driving in 33 RBIs with a .333/.405/.689 slash line and 1.094 OPS in 39 games.

In 2019, Voit slashed .263/.378/.464 with 21 homers and 62 RBIs. However, he missed two months with an abdomen injury, which required surgery after the season.

Voit's best season came during the covid-shortened 2020 campaign, where he led the major leagues with 22 home runs in 56 games.

In his final campaign with the Yankees, Voit dealt with a slew of injuries, which led to the team's decision to acquire Anthony Rizzo. Once Rizzo was a yankee, Voit's days were numbered in the Bronx.

In the offseason, the Yankees traded Voit to the San Diego Padres in exchange for Justin Lange.

At last season's trade deadline, Voit was included in the blockbuster deal that sent Juan Soto and Josh Bell from the Washington Nationals to the Padres.

Now, the ex-Yankee will look to catch on with the crosstown rival Mets.
