Yankees' Superstar Top Outfield Vote-Getter For AL All-Star Team Despite Injury

Aaron Judge may be injured, but the New York Yankees outfielder is the most popular choice among AL outfielders on ASG ballots.

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge leads all American League outfielders in All-Star Game voting after the first round of results were released on Monday.

Judge — who is currently on the injured list — received 844,965 votes, putting him ahead of the Los Angeles Angels’ Mike Trout (598,918) and the Houston Astros’ Yordan Alvarez (571,986) at the position group.

The top six vote-getters in the outfield move on to the second round of voting, which starts on June 22. That round of voting determines the starters. At the other position groups the top two players advance.

The only AL player getting more votes than Judge is Angels two-way starter Shohei Ohtani, who is on the ballot as a designated hitter.

Judge is a four-time All-Star who is batting .291 with 19 home runs and 40 RBI so far this season. He is the only Yankee in position to advance to the next round.

Other Yankees among the top vote-getters are catcher Jose Trevino (ninth, 107,304), first baseman Anthony Rizzo (third, 321,765), second baseman Gleyber Torres (fourth, 171,173), third baseman DJ LeMahieu (eighth, 129,178), shortstop Anthony Volpe (seventh, 114,842), designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (sixth, 112,608) and outfielder Harrison Bader (16th, 137,655).

The All-Star Game is set for July 11 in Seattle.

The MLB All-Star Ballot, which is available exclusively online and via mobile devices at MLB.com/vote, all 30 Club web sites, the MLB App and the MLB Ballpark App, will be accessible until the voting period for Phase 1 concludes at 11 a.m. central on June 22nd.

During the initial voting period, fans can submit up to five ballots per 24-hour period.

On June 22nd, the top two vote-getters at each position (and the top six outfielders) in each League will be revealed on MLB Network at 5 p.m. central, and they will advance to the second phase of voting to determine who makes the All-Star teams and starts for each League.

The leading vote-getter in each league during the first phase of voting will receive an automatic starting assignment at the All-Star Game and bypass the second phase of voting.
