New York Yankees Activate Superstar Aaron Judge From IL
He's baaack.
The New York Yankees have activated superstar outfielder Aaron Judge from the injured list ahead of their crucial weekend series against the first place Baltimore Orioles.
Judge, who has been on the IL since June 3 with a toe injury, spent the week playing in sim games at the team's complex in Tampa Bay.
For that, the Yankees felt that Judge did not require a rehab assignment before rejoining the big-league club.
The Yankees are 30-19 with Judge and 24-29 without him. The offense has also struggled mightily in his absence.
But the good news is that the Yankees are only 2.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot and now have their superstar back to help them go on a run.
Judge tore ligaments in his right big toe after crashing through the fence at Dodger Stadium while making a superb catch. But it was indeed costly as he has missed nearly two months of action.
Judge has admittedly stated he expects to play the remainder of the season with pain in his toe. Alas, he is back and should provide a major boost to a struggling Yankee lineup.
On the season, Judge is slashing .291/.404/.674 with a 1.078 OPS, 193 OPS+, 2.4 bWAR, 19 home runs and 40 RBIs.
