New York Yankees' Rizzo Dealing With Injury
Talk about a player that the New York Yankees cannot afford to lose.
First baseman Anthony Rizzo left Thursday's game against the Oakland Athletics early after being hit by a pitch on his back elbow.
According to manager Aaron Boone, X-Rays came back negative. Rizzo is day-to-day but there is a good chance that he won't play on Friday.
Rizzo is one of the Yankees most important hitters in their lineup, especially since Aaron Judge went down with a toe injury.
With Judge out, the Yankees have had the worst offense in the league. However, over the course of the past two days, the Yankees have exploded for 21 runs against the A's.
If the Yankees' offense is truly going to turn things around without Judge, they're going to need Rizzo to be in there every day.
The hope is that Rizzo won't have to miss any time beyond Friday, should Boone opt to sit him.
The Yankees are 45-36 and 9.5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East. Fortunately, New York sits one game up in the second Wild Card spot in the AL.
The Yankees will now head to the midwest to take on the St. Louis Cardinals for a three-game set.
