New York Yankees Make Shocking Hicks Decision

The New York Yankees have shockingly designated Aaron Hicks for assignment.
In this story:

Call it a shocker.

The New York Yankees designated Aaron Hicks for assignment on Saturday.

Hicks still has 2 1/2 years left on his seven-year, $70 million deal, which he signed prior to the 2019 season.

The move was not as surprising as the timing. Hicks was hitting .353 across his last seven games before the Yankees decided to DFA him.

But this decision ultimately came down to years of injury and underperformance since he signed his deal.

In the end, Hicks’ overall lack of production lost him a job to contribute to the Yankees, even from a part-time standpoint.
