New York Yankees Ace Anchors Pitching Probables for Brewers Series

The New York Yankees have set their pitching probables for this weekend’s home series with the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers.

Friday’s game starts at 7:10 p.m. eastern. Saturday’s game starts at 2:05 p.m. and Sunday’s finale starts at 1:35 p.m.

Right-hander Luis Severino (4-8, 6.75) is expected to start for the Yankees on Friday against the Brewers’ Colin Rea (5-5, 5.07).

Severino snapped his winning streak with a no-decision against Houston on Saturday, as he gave up six hits and four earned runs in four innings. He also had three strikeouts and a walk. The Yankees are expected to start Michael King (4-5, 2.88) against Milwaukee’s Wade Miley (7-4, 3.33).

King won his last outing, which was a start against Houston on Sunday. He claimed his first victory as a starting pitcher in the Majors, as he went five innings, giving up five hits and one earned run. He struck out four and walked none. His recent move to the rotation has been a boost for the Yankees. He is 1-1 with a 2.53 ERA in his last seven games (four starts). He has 25 strikeouts and five walks in 21.1 innings and has given up just six earned runs.

Cole has won his last three starts, the latest coming against Detroit on Tuesday. He gave up one earned run in six innings, allowing eight hits. He struck out seven and walked none. In his last seven starts — which spans 43.2 innings — he is 4-2 with a 3.71 ERA, with 46 strikeouts and nine walks.

Burnes is coming off a loss against Pittsburgh on Monday. He went six innings, giving up seven hits and four earned runs. He struck out seven and walked none. He is 0-2 in his last seven starts with a 4.12 ERA. He has struck out 43 and walked 15 in his last 43.2 innings.

After Sunday’s finale, the Yankees hit the road to take on the Boston Red Sox.
