After one of the most disappointing seasons in a very long time for the New York Yankees, the hope is that this team returns to the powerhouse that they can be. There's no denying the talent on the roster and with other potential additions coming during the offseason, the Yankees can be much better than they have been during the past few years.

New York traded for Juan Soto, a move that's expected to be huge for the lineup. He is regarded as one of the best hitters in baseball and there's even an argument for him being the top hitter in the league. If Aaron Judge and others can stay healthy with Soto, they could have one of the best lineups in baseball.

Still, there are concerns for the Yankees, and rightfully so.

Last season was a major disappointment and if they play that way again, changes to the coaching staff and front office will be made.

As they enter the season, it's tough to tell how they're going to play. MLB.com's Will Leitch released the 2024 power rankings, ranking the Yankees as the No. 8 team in baseball. They're the No. 5 ranked team in the American League.

For a veteran team that can win a World Series, there's room for improvement. If they play well during the first few weeks of the season or make another move or two in the offseason, they'll move up.

As of now, the Yankees are a good, not great team. Whether or not they become great is still to be seen after a brutal 2023 season.
