Yankees Injury Updates: Carlos Rodon, Nestor Cortes, Jose Trevino
The Yankees are getting healthier.
On Thursday, manager Aaron Boone provided injury updates for several players.
Starting pitcher Carlos Rodon (forearm strain) is expected to play catch in the next few days. MLB insider Jon Heyman also reported that Rodon's range of motion has quickly improved and should be back on the mound again soon.
Fellow starting pitcher Nestor Cortes (hamstring strain) will make his Spring Training debut on Saturday in Dunedin against the Toronto Blue Jays. Cortes injured his hamstring in February and the Yankees have been taking it slow with the hurler.
Catcher Jose Trevino (wrist sprain) is swinging a bat again and is expected to return to action sometime by early next week. Trevino injured his wrist on a swing last week, but did not require an injection.
While Cortes and Trevino are expected to be ready by Opening Day, Rodon will miss his first few starts of the regular season.
Alas, the Yankees, who have been bit by the injury bug in Spring Training, appear to be getting healthier as we inch closer to the regular season.
