The New York Yankees could be huge players at the MLB trade deadline come Aug. 1.

The Yankees want, and need, rotational help. One name who could be of interest in Cleveland Guardians ace Shane Bieber.

According to Patrick McAvoy of Baseball Essential, the Yankees could pursue Bieber at the trade deadline.

"Cleveland has had a roller coaster of a season to this point," writes McAvoy. "The Guardians currently are leading the American League Central, but are just 45-45 so they could end up doing anything ahead of the deadline. Bieber is under team control through 2024 so the price tag likely would be very high. But, he is affordable for New York and would give the club arguably the best rotations in baseball with Cole, Bieber and Rodón."

The article also states that Bieber might be a better option than even Marcus Stroman.

It would a significant upgrade for New York, but considering Bieber is under contract for what is essentially two postseason runs, the price tag will be high. Even more so considering that the Guardians are in the division lead and currently have a postseason spot locked down.

However, only one team from the American League Central will make the playoffs, and at .500, the Guardians by no means have anything secure. They could look to offload their best trade chip and reload for a run in 2024.

Whether or not the Yankees want to meet what will likely be an exorbitant price tag remains to be seen. Then again, Bieber may represent the best opportunity to win another World Series, something the Yankees haven't done since 2009 against the Philadelphia Phillies
