With the holiday just around the corner, this hurler got lit up like the 4th of July.

On Tuesday, Toronto Blue Jays All-Star pitcher Alek Manoah made his first rookie ball start against the Florida Complex League Yankees and got his doors blown off.

Manoah lasted only 2.2 innings, allowing 11 earned runs on 10 hits, two home runs, three strikeouts and two walks.

This was not the start that Manoah was hoping for after the Blue Jays demoted him to the Florida Complex League on June 6.

After a stellar 2022 campaign, where he was an All-Star and made First Team All-MLB, Manoah's 2023 season has been a nightmare. In 13 starts, the righty was 1-7 with a 6.36 ERA before the Blue Jays optioned him.

In his first full season last year, Manoah went 16-7 with a 2.24 ERA in 196.2 innings. The previous season, the righty went 9-2 with a 3.22 ERA in 111.2 innings.

What's even more concerning for Manoah is that the majority of these rookie ball teams he is facing have prospects whose ages range between 17 and 20 years-old.

As Max Goodman of NJ Advance Media pointed out, the average age of the Yankees' rookie ball team that clobbered Manoah is 18.8 years-old.
