New York Yankees Provide Interesting Update on Judge's Toe
The New York Yankees could use Aaron Judge back in the lineup after he's been out with a toe injury suffered during their matchup with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
They are 5-5 in their last 10 games and sit 8.5 games back of the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East. Inserting the 2022 American League MVP back into the fold would be a huge boon for New York.
However, the Yankees have been oddly tight-lipped about Judge and his toe since he suffered the injury.
Until Saturday night.
Prior to their matchup with the Boston Red Sox on Saturday, manager Aaron Boone finally gave an update.
“He is doing a little bit better [Friday] and [Saturday],” Boone said.
Boone also spoke with the team's medical staff who gave few answers on what the prognosis looks like.
Apparently the swelling appears to be trending in an optimistic direction and they are keeping tabs on Judge every day.
More should be known in the coming days as far as a timeline for return. Luckily it isn't a fracture.
Until then, everyone waits with bated breath on updates on Judge's toe.
The Yankees will take on the Red Sox in a rubber match on Sunday with first pitch slated for 7:10 p.m. ET on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball.
Clarke Schmidt (2-6, 4.96) will take the mound against Boston's Brayan Bello (3-4, 3.97).
