New York Yankees Set Pitching Rotation for Blue Jays Series

The New York Yankees have set their pitching probables for this week’s three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays, which starts on Tuesday at Yankee Stadium.
All three games of the series will start at 7:05 p.m. eastern.
Clarke Schmidt (9-8, 4.56) is expected to start on Tuesday for the Yankees against Blue Jays left-hander Yusef Kikuchi (9-6, 3.81)
Clarke took a no-decision against Boston on Thursday, which was part of a doubleheader. He allowed seven hits and three earned runs in 5.1 innings. He struck out three and walked three. He is 2-2 with a 5.20 ERA in his last seven starts, with 39 strikeouts and 11 walks in his last 36.1 innings.
Kikuchi is coming off a loss against Texas on Wednesday. He gave up five hits and six earned runs in five innings, with three strikeouts and two walks. He’s struggled to an 0-3 record with a 4.23 ERA in his last seven starts, with 44 strikeouts and 11 walks in his last 38.1 innings.
Right-hander Michael King (4-6, 2.77) is set to start for the Yankees on Wednesday against Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman (11-9, 3.40).
King took a loss against Boston on Thursday as part of a doubleheader, but only allowed one run in 4.2 innings. He did give up six hits and a walk while striking out eight. He’s fit in nicely into the Yankees’ rotation, with a 1-1 record and a 2.05 ERA in his last seven games (five starts). He has struck out 34 and walked seven in his last 26.1 innings.
Gausman lost his last start against Texas on Thursday, as he allowed six hits and four earned runs in 4.2 innings. He walked six and struck out five. In his last seven starts he is 3-3 with a 4.05 ERA, with 45 strikeouts and 16 walks in his last 40 innings.
Thursday’s finale will feature Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole (13-4, 2.81) against Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios (11-10, 3.49).
Cole took a no-decision on Friday against Pittsburgh, giving up six hits and two earned runs in five innings. He walked three and struck out four. In his last seven starts he is 3-1 with a 3.02 ERA with 48 strikeouts and eight walks in his last 41.2 innings.
Berrios won his last start against Boston on Friday, as he gave up five hits and no runs in seven innings. He struck out eight and walked none. It was his second straight win and his second straight outing of seven innings. In his last seven games he is 2-3 with a 3.86 ERA, with 39 strikeouts and nine walks in 42 innings.
After wrapping up the series with the Blue Jays, the Yankees host Arizona for a three-game series that starts on Friday.
