The 2023 season continues to get worse for the New York Yankees, as the club was met with unfortunate news Sunday evening.

Top prospect Jasson Dominguez has suffered a torn UCL injury, USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports.

Dominguez received a promotion to the Yankees' big league roster just over a week ago. The switch-hitting center fielder made his big league debut in Houston on September 1, smashing a home run in his first career game.

Dominguez was scratched from the Yankees' lineup Sunday, in the club's series finale against the Milwaukee Brewers. Now, he could miss all of 2024. A torn UCL typically requires Tommy John surgery. Dominguez's 2023 season is done.

In eight games with the Yankees, Dominguez slashed .258/.303/.980 with four home runs and seven RBI.

Even with Dominguez out of the lineup Sunday, the Yankees were able to pick up 4-3 win over the Brewers in 13 innings, improving their record to 71-72 on the season. They will travel to Boston to open a four-game series with the Red Sox Monday at Fenway Park.
