The New York Yankees are expected to get a key position player back by the end of the week.

Center fielder Harrison Bader (hamstring strain) is set to begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset on Wednesday.

If all goes well, the plan is for Bader to rejoin the Yankees on Friday in Boston for their three-game series with the Red Sox over the weekend, per manager Aaron Boone.

Bader has been on the 10-day injured list since May 30 after tweaking his hamstring against the Seattle Mariners

Since Bader landed on the IL, the Yankees also lost Aaron Judge to a toe injury. The good news is that Bader will soon return, barring any setbacks, but there is still no timeline for Judge's return.

That said, Boone told the Talkin' Yanks podcast that Judge was in less pain when leaving Yankee Stadium on Sunday night.

As for Bader, his return will be a major boost for a Yankees outfield that has been forced to deploy replacement-level players such as Jake Bauers, Willie Calhoun and Billy McKinney.

The Yankees are currently in Queens to take on the New York Mets in the Subway Series as part of a two-game set at Citi Field.
