Yankees' Anthony Rizzo Wins AL Player of the Week
Well deserved.
Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo has won the American League Player of the Week Award
Rizzo went 12-for-27 (.444) with a double, three home runs, seven RBI, 10 runs scored, an .815 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage.
Rizzo led the AL in hits and runs scored, was second in batting average and total bases with 22, was tied for second in home runs, tied for third in on-base percentage and fourth in slugging percentage.
The 33-year-old had three multi-hit games to begin his week, leading the Yankees to a three-game sweep of the lowly Oakland Athletics.
Rizzo homered twice and drove in three runs in the Yankees' 6-5 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday. He also had a three hit day on Saturday in the Yankees' 9-8 comeback win over the Rays.
On Sunday, Rizzo homered on a two-run blast for his team-leading ninth long ball of the season.
Rizzo enters play on Monday with a 13-game on-base streak, dating back to May 1. This is his longest such streak since April/May 2021 when he was with the Chicago Cubs.
