The New York Yankees already are in an interesting spot but it wouldn't hurt to make another addition to the starting rotation.

New York already has improved its rotation this offseason by bringing in two-time All-Star Marcus Stroman but another signing could make sense. The Yankees were linked to two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell but that doesn't seem like a possibility any longer.

The Yankees already have drastically increased their payroll so the club likely won't take on another large contract. While this is the case, there still are some intriguing options out there that could be had on cheap deals despite having upside.

One player who could make sense is former New York Mets All-Star Noah Syndergaard. He had a down year in 2023 and is looking for his next opportunity. He recently held a showcase in front of clubs and the Yankees reportedly were one of the teams that attended, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman.

"Yankees are among about 15 teams that have gone to watch one of Noah Syndergaard’s (bullpen) sessions," Heyman said. "Their interest level is unknown but he was said to be in the mid 90’s."

While it's unclear if a signing is imminent, it would make a lot of sense. Syndergaard has plenty of experience pitching in New York and although he struggled in 2023, he had a 3.94 ERA in 2022 with the Los Angeles Angels and Philadelphia Phillies.

He's also just 31 years old. If he's fully healthy, maybe he could turn things around and get back on track. He won't cost much and at the very least could be a solid No. 5 starter and provide more depth. Why not take a chance on him?
