The New York Yankees have been in plenty of rumors lately.

New York won just 82 games in 2023 and it sounds like it's going to spend big this offseason to turn the organization around. The Yankees have sky-high expectations and will be looking to improve the starting rotation and middle of the lineup this offseason.

One player who the Yankees have been continuously linked to is Orix Buffaloes phenom Yoshinobu Yamamoto. While it's unclear exactly where he will land, New York may be the favorite, according to MLB.com's Will Leitch.

"Let’s not overcomplicate this, you know? The Yankees are the Yankees, after all, a team that has never (well, almost never) been afraid to go after big free agents, and there’s no question that the rotation is very much a problem right now," Leitch said. "Japanese players have clearly flourished in the Bronx, he’s reportedly intrigued by all that New York aura and mystique, and did we mention that the Yankees could really use some starting pitching?

"If the Yanks don’t reach the World Series in 2024, it will be a stunning 15 years since they last did so. That’s the sort of drought that should lead to some urgency. It’s not going to be easy to fix everything that ails these Yankees overnight. But going after the best starting pitcher on the market is a great way to start. Just ask their newly minted Cy Young winner."

New York needs to make a major move and it sounds like bringing in Yamamoto is a real possibility.
