Aaron Boone will be back as manager of the New York Yankees during the 2024 season. There was some thought that owner Hal Steinbrenner might reluctantly make a change, but that did not occur.

The offseason got off to a wild start after the Chicago Cubs made a shocking move and hired their formal rival manager Craig Counsell to take over their team.

Despite publicly supporting David Ross, the Cubs ultimately decided to be aggressive and go get the best managerial candidate on the market.

Cutthroat.

Something that the New York Yankees used to be under George Steinbrenner.

That philosophy has seemingly gone by the wayside as his son Hal Steinbrenner is now in charge of the franchise.

Not wanting to be reactionary and make the same mistakes his father did because of his emotions, Hal has taken a much more patient approach, something that has drawn criticism.

Probably nothing is more evident of that than manager Aaron Boone returning for another season in 2024.

On Tuesday, Steinbrenner revealed one of the reasons that he's sticking with the heavily criticized skipper for next year.

According to Chris Kirschner of The Athletic, the owner told reporters, "He asked multiple people and said the answer was [Boone] should return in 2024."

It's hard to pin the Yankees struggles last season solely on the manager.

Multiple injuries plagued them throughout the year, including ones to superstar Aaron Judge and free agent acquisition Carlos Rodon that sidelined them for the majority of 2023.

Still, it's a clear reminder that this New York franchise is run differently than it was in the past.

There's no doubt that Boone would have been replaced years prior if things still operated the way George ran things.

The Yankees could have been aggressive and made a play for Counsell like Chicago did.

They could have been the team viewed as cutthroat, just like they had been viewed in the past.

But, that's not what this franchise is anymore.

So Boone will be back for another season in 2024 as they hope to turn things around and avoid another disastrous year.
