Yankees Reportedly Could Land All-Star Slugger In Possible Blockbuster Trade
The New York Yankees need to go back to the drawing board this offseason.
New York's roster is talented and with better health in 2024 should be able to compete for a postseason spot. But, if the Yankees want to contend for a World Series title next year they will need to make at least one or two solid additions this offseason. It's unclear exactly what the club will do, but one player who possibly could be a fit is San Diego Padres star Juan Soto, according to The Athletic's Brendan Kuty and Chris Kirschner.
"The best and potentially realistic left-handed option for the Yankees to consider would be trading for Juan Soto. If the San Diego Padres entertain offers this offseason, the Yankees need to be all in for the generational talent who’s still in the prime of his career."
Soto has been mentioned as a possible fit multiple times already this offseason as rumors have grown that the young slugger could be dealt. The 24-year-old is in line to hit free agency at the end of the 2024 season and will land a massive contract. Whether he gets an extension this offseason or waits until free agency he is sure to land a record deal.
The Yankees have the money to spend and a significant need for a left-handed bat. New York needs to add a little star power and Soto could be exactly what the team needs this offseason.
