The New York Yankees had one of the worst offenses in baseball last season.

New York somehow still won 82 games, but if the Yankees' offense even was average, the club likely would have been a playoff team. Injuries were a major reason for the offensive struggles, but there also was some inconsistent play.

The Yankees already have attempted to improve the area this offseason and have added superstar slugger Juan Soto, Alex Verdugo, and Trent Grisham to help in the outfield.

Although the Yankees already have made some additions, it sounds like they aren't done yet. New York reportedly has even shown interest in All-Star slugger Jorge Soler, according to MLB.com's Francys Romero.

"The Seattle Mariners are the most active team for Cuban (outfielder/designated hitter) Jorge Soler, per source," Soler said. "Yankees and (Miami Marlins) have also approached and have shown interest."

Soler had one of the best seasons of his career in 2023 with the Marlins. The 31-year-old clubbed 36 home runs, drove in 75 runs, and slashed .250/.341/.512 en route to his first All-Star nod. The slugger certainly has plenty of upside. In 2019, he led the American League in home runs with 48 and drove in 117 runs as a member of the Kansas City Royals.

It would be nice to land a slugger like Soler, but it may not make sense for the Yankees without another move. Giancarlo Stanton currently holds the designated hitter spot and the Yankees have added three outfielders already.

New York's biggest issue last year was a lack of depth, so there could be an argument that adding another outfielder couldn't hurt. At this point, a move may be unlikely, but only time will tell.
