It sounds like a another massive move could be coming for the Yankees

The New York Yankees added some help to the starting rotation Thursday.

New York entered the offseason with three major holes. The Yankees need to help fix the middle of the lineup, bolster the outfield, and add some help in the rotation. New York has accomplished all three of these things and still could make more moves.

The Yankees may have added two-time All-Star Marcus Stroman on Thursday, but the club still could make a blockbuster trade with the Chicago White Sox for Dylan Cease, according to the New York Post's Joel Sherman.

"The deal is pending a physical," Sherman said. "I do not think this precludes the Yankees from still trying to trade for Cease or sign another (free agent) like (Blake Snell) if prices fall. NYY felt they had to get on the board with another vet starter and did so with Stroman."

Stroman is an impressive signing in his own right and is a two-time All-Star. While this is the case, he struggled in the second half of the 2023 campaign due to an injury. If he's fully healthy, he likely pencils in as the club's No. 2 or No. 3 pitcher.

Cease had a down year in 2023 but is just 28 years old and has shown signs that he could be a top-of-the-rotation piece. He had a 2.20 ERA in 2022 with a 227-to-78 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 184 innings pitched.

New York already has improved by signing Stroman. The rotation already is in a much better place but if they could land Cease too, the rotation would be scary to opponents.
