Former UFC fighter Josh Grispi was arrested Monday on charges of assault after he allegedly beat his wife for the second time in the past week, according to a report from The Taunton Gazette.

The 25-year-old, who hasn't fought since 2013 and has a UFC record of 0-4, reportedly trained his pit bull to attack his 25-year-old wife. He would often choke the dog unconscious after attacks, according to the report.

A MIddleboro (Mass.) police officer on the case said to the Gazette that it's the "worst case of domestic abuse I've ever seen."

Grispi had been arrested last Friday on assault charges for another reported incident with his wife but was released on $2,000 bail.

More from The Gazette:

"Inside the house police found handguns, rifles, an assault rifle and ammunition all belonging to Joshua. Most of the guns were unsecured and some were sitting in boxes inside their bedroom, police said. Next to their bed was a playpen with their 1-year-old daughter inside."

Grispi was arraigned on Tuesday and is being held in jail on $100,000 bail.

Grispi now faces a number of charges including: five counts of improperly storing a large capacity firearm near a minor; assault and battery; malicious damage to a motor vehicle; drug possession to cultivate marijuana; assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; two counts of violating a restraining order; and animal cruelty.
