Conor McGregor knocked out Jose Aldo in lightning-quick fashion to win the UFC featherweight title on Saturday night.

The pair squared off at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, but it didn't last long. McGregor landed a quick counterpunch and felled Aldo, proceeding to knock him out and end the fight in 13 seconds.

Aldo had not lost a fight in 10 years, had held the featherweight belt since 2009 and had successfully defended his title nine times.

McGregor, the slight favorite, moves to 19–2–0. Aldo is now 25–2–0.

The two fighters were initially supposed to meet in UFC 189 in July, but Aldo’s rib injury resulted in him eventually pulling out. McGregor defeated Chad Mendes, his replacement, by TKO.

As for the rest of the card, Luke Rockhold dominated Chris Weidman to take the middleweight championship in the fourth round by TKO.

Yoel Romero defeated Ronaldo Souza, Demian Maia beat Gunnar Nelson, and Max Holloway topped Jeremy Stephens in the other bouts.
