Conor McGregor Says He’s Training Dillon Danis for Logan Paul Fight
With Conor McGregor’s fighting career still on hold, the polarizing MMA star has revealed plans for his next endeavor, which will place him at the center of one of the year’s most-hyped boxing matches.
McGregor announced on Saturday he will train longtime friend and training partner, Dillon Danis, as he prepares for his boxing debut against Logan Paul on Oct. 14. Paul’s match against the Bellator fighter will mark the social media and part-time wrestling star’s first in the sport since June 2021.
The former two-division UFC champion also offered, as he so often does, a bold prediction for the bout, guaranteeing Danis will emerge victorious.
“Dillon will win for sure,” McGregor told Matchroom Boxing. “They’re already backtracking right now. They woke an animal. [I’ve known] Dillon years and I’ve trained with him many times. I’m guiding him, I’m gonna train him for this and I guarantee a win.”
McGregor continued dishing out more fighting words aimed at Paul in response to the reported $100,000 clause he placed in the fight’s contract. Paul said earlier this week Danis, who withdrew from a fight with Paul’s associate KSI in January, will be fined that amount if he withdraws without confirmation of a legitimate injury.
“I hope the lad shows up,” said McGregor of Paul. “He tried to put a bill on us if we don’t show up. We’re gonna come at him with a bill if he don’t show up.”
Danis’s upcoming bout against Paul will be featured on a card that also includes a matchup between KSI and Tommy Fury, who lost to Paul’s brother and rising boxing star Jake by split decision in February.
