It didn’t take very long for the UFC to find a replacement opponent to face Michel Pereira on the main card of UFC 301.

“Demolidor” was scheduled to try and extend his seven-fight win streak against Makhmud Muradov in Rio de Janeiro on May 4, but when Muradov announced that he was withdrawing from the matchup due to an infection Pereira quickly indicated he was open to fighting a replacement opponent.

According to a report from Alex Behunin, Ihor Potieira will now step in to meet Pereira at UFC 301 with just under a month left before the card is scheduled to take place in Brazil.

“The Duelist” won a UFC contract on Contender Series 2021 and carried a lengthy win streak into his promotional debut, but so far the Ukrainian has gone 2-3 through his first five bouts with the UFC.

Potieira did take advantage of another short-notice opportunity to earn a unanimous decision over Robert Bryczek in February, however the 27-year-old also missed weight ahead of that matchup.

Adding Potieira to UFC 301 keeps that event’s main card intact but does leave Shara Magomedov without an opponent, as the unbeaten Russian was scheduled to meet Potieira at UFC Saudi Arabia on May 22.

With Poteiria stepping in to meet Pereira on the event’s main card, UFC 301 currently looks like this:

  • Alexandre Pantoja vs. Steve Erceg - For the UFC Men’s Flyweight Championship
  • Jonathan Martinez vs. José Aldo
  • Anthony Smith vs. Vitor Petrino
  • Paul Craig vs. Caio Borralho
  • Michel Pereira vs. Ihor Potieria
  • Joanderson Brito vs. Jack Shore
  • Karolina Kowalkiewicz vs. Iasmin Lucindo
  • Elves Brener vs. Myktybek Orolbai
  • Jean Silva vs. William Gomis
  • Joaquim Silva vs. Drakkar Klose
  • Mauricio Ruffy vs. Jamie Mullarkey
  • Dione Barbosa vs. Ernesta Kareckaite
  • Ismael Bonfim vs. Vinc Pichel
  • Alessandro Cosa vs. Kevin Borjas
