UFC News: Chris Curtis Details Serious Injury Suffered in Fight Night Main Event
Middleweight Chris Curtis is going to be on the shelf for a while following his loss to Brendan Allen in last weekend’s UFC Fight Night main event.
Last Saturday’s headlining bout at the UFC Apex facility was supposed to see Allen take on former middleweight title challenger Marvin Vettori, but when Vettori withdrew from that booking, Curtis stepped in to replace him.
“The Action Man” knocked out Allen when they first met in 2021, and after suffering a narrow-split decision loss in their rematch Curtis revealed that he suffered a serious hamstring injury during the fight.
Not the news I wanted...

Grade 3 tear in my hamstring.
Waiting on more info.
Fuck me
The middleweight bout looked to be all even on the scorecards heading into the final round, and although Curtis had some big moments of success in the last frame he was nearly finished just before the final bell when his leg appeared to give out on him.
The 36-year-old went on to suggest that he’d probably need around six months to recover from the injury, and he also took some time to reflect on how he could have fought differently to earn a second victory over Allen.
Think one of my bigger issues as a fighter is my love of the fight, as odd as that sounds. I am always trying to win a fight, not the rounds. So many small places I could steal and bank rounds, but my focus is always on fighting you as opposed to banking rounds... I know better

For sure, but I think I just enjoy the act of fighting itself. Need to focus on winning the contest instead of winning a fight, but it's just not the way my brain works. Just fight musings..

The result and subsequent injury are huge disappointments for Curtis, but Allen is now on an impressive seven-fight win streak and could be on the short list of potential title challengers once the UFC figures out a plan for its new middleweight king Dricus Du Plessis.
