Athletes Dream Gifts for the Holidays
Athletes Dream Gifts for the Holidays
Joe Sakic
SI.com asked athletes and coaches from across professional sports what they wanted for the holidays. Below, some gifts for the men who seemingly have everything:<br><br>"Good health for the family, a box of fresh, flown-in, BC salmon, some cedar planks, another Stanley Cup for us and a World Series title for the Seattle Mariners."
Shaquille O'Neal
"Know what I want? I want these glasses that when you hook them up to a DVD, it looks like you're looking at a 100-foot theater (the DV920 Video Eyewear from Icuiti Corp.) I bought a pair at the Sharper Image in Houston, but they didn't work. That's the only thing I'm really looking for for Christmas. I have a home theater but with these, it makes it look even bigger than what I have. That's what I'm looking for."
Saku Koivu
"My wife...with a little bit of clothing on sitting in a red Ferrari. That would look great under the tree."
LeBron James
"I think I have everything that I want. For me, it's to see my sons happy on Christmas day. My older son, he's old enough now to know what he's getting. But to see him on Christmas and to see great health for my family, that's all I want."
Alan Faneca
I have a fishing/sport boat, so we'll take a pleasure boat. No yacht. Just something we can get around in. Something with a little cabin, a little getaway. We'll put a little hot tub on the back, too."
Brandon Roy
"A Phantom Rolls Royce. If I had something like that ... they're sweet. But I get more pleasure out of giving then getting at this point in my life. I'd probably turn around and give it to somebody else."
Dwyane Wade
"If it's anything I want for Christmas, I think it's more of the new technology that comes out. What I look for is something you could take on planes to watch DVDs or listen to music with. Anything that makes it better to listen to music, anything I can get to upgrade my iPod, including my video one. It's just upgrading what I have, to make sure I get all the new things."
Greg Oden
"I'd like to be magically healthy so I could play basketball right now. Oh yeah, a car would be nice, too. Anything free is always good."
Mike Richards
"The last couple of years I got fishing rods and gear for the summer. That's what I want. I want Shimano gear. Keep that in mind."
Mike Tomlin
"Health and happiness for my family and loved ones. Material possessions? Nah. If I have 20 bucks in my pocket and a tank full of gas, I'm good to go."
Antoine Walker
"Probably an Apple laptop. It's a little more difficult than the regular one, but once you get it working and learning it, it's nice."
James Farrior
"An Aston Martin DB9 convertible."
Udonis Haslem
"There's supposed to be a new Xbox coming out. If somebody gave me that, I'd enjoy that -- the Xbox mega or something like that. I'm a PS-3 guy, but I don't think they have anything new coming out. I usually show up with the newest."
Daniel Alfredsson
"I'd like some camouflage gear. I want to get into hunting."
Troy Polamalu
"A trip to Europe with my wife would be nice. I would like to just take a car, horse, buggy, whatever, and just go around from country to country. That would be awesome. I've been to Greece before and Turkey, but I've never been through Spain, Germany, France. I would love to do it this offseason."
Jason Blake
"To have my health back." (Blake was recently diagnosed with a form of leukemia.)
Willie Parker
"The rushing title."
Mark Madsen
"If they came out with a new version of the iPhone, I'd want one. The one I have is 8 gigs. I stood out in line overnight at the Eden Prairie mall: I was No. 22 in line, and I think they had 50 of them. People in line, they were all asking me why I had to wait, why I didn't know someone who could get me one [on the sly]. I said, 'Hey, man, no one's getting me one. If you're gonna wait in line, I'm gonna wait in line.'"
Martell Webster
"To be able to talk to my mom, Cora McGuirk. She died when I was four."
