Aug. 30

On the opening night of the college football season, the Tigers pounded a Mississippi State team that ended up with eight wins. QB Matt Flynn paced the Tigers' offense with two touchdown passes.

Sept. 8

In a much-anticipated matchup between two top-10 teams, LSU looked unbelievably dominant. The Tigers scored on four of their first five possessions. Backfield duo Keiland Williams and Jacob Hester combined for 206 yards rushing and three touchdowns.

Sept. 15

Filling in for injured Matt Flynn, Ryan Perrilloux made his first career start count, completing 20-of-25 passes for 298 yards and three touchdowns. LSU's D held Middle Tennessee to 90 total yards of offense.

Sept. 22

The Gamecocks provided LSU with its first test of the season. In the play of the game, LSU K Colt David scored a 15-yard touchdown on a nifty fake field goal. Holder Matt Flynn received the snap then flipped a no-look, over-the-shoulder toss to David, who easily scampered into the end zone.

Sept. 29

Clinging to a 10-9 lead at the half, LSU outscored Tulane 24-0 in the final 30 minutes of play. Backfield duo Charles Scott and Jacob Hester scored two rushing touchdowns apiece.

Oct. 6

Playing as the AP poll's No. 1 team for the first time since 1959, LSU barely got by Tim Tebow and the Gators. Les Miles pulled off one gamble after another, and Jacob Hester (pictured) scored the game-winning touchdown with just over a minute remaining.

Oct. 13

Kentucky QB Andre Woodson threw himself into the Heisman race by knocking off the Tigers. Woodson threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns and the Wildcats earned one of the biggest wins in the program's history. LSU QB Matt Flynn struggled mightily, completing just 17-of-35 passes for 130 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Oct. 20

With LSU trailing 24-23 and seconds to play, Les Miles decided to run one more play before trying a game-winning field goal. Matt Flynn connected with Demetrius Byrd for a 22-yard touchdown (pictured) with just a second to spare.

Nov. 3

In LSU's first game against its former coach, Nick Saban, the Tigers scored two touchdowns in the final three minutes to earn the win. After some early struggles, Matt Flynn (pictured) finished with 353 yards passing and three touchdowns.

Nov. 10

On Les Miles' 54th birthday, LSU routed Louisiana Tech. Jacob Hester rushed 11 times for 115 yards, including an 87-yard touchdown scamper.

Nov. 17

The Tigers struggled a bit with Brent Schaeffer and the Rebels, but in the end LSU clinched the SEC West title. Trindon Holliday (pictured) returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown, while LSU's three-headed monster of Jacob Hester, Keiland Williams and Charles Scott combined for 172 yards rushing and three touchdowns.

Nov. 23

The Tigers just couldn't stop Darren McFadden. Running the "WildHog" formation for much of the game, McFadden rushed for 206 yards and three touchdowns and threw a 24-yard touchdown pass.

Dec. 1

Les Miles held a pregame press conference to dispel a report that he was headed to Michigan and the Tigers captured the SEC title. With Matt Flynn out due to injury, Ryan Perrilloux threw for 243 yards and touchdown, earning MVP honors.

Jan. 7, BCS National Championship Game

The Tigers finished off their championship season with a convincing title win in front of a hometown crowd in the Superdome. After falling behind 10-0, LSU scored 31 straight points and put the game away. Tigers QB Matt Flynn (left) led the offensive charge with four touchdown passes.
