Frank Thomas
In the first night game in the new Comiskey Park (now U.S. Cellular Field), Frank Thomas hits the first White Sox home run. The Sox defeated the Orioles, 8-7.
White Sox and Tigers brawl
After being hit by a pitch thrown by White Sox starter Jim Parque, Dean Palmer charges the mound beginning a series of brawls which would continue to erupt throughout the game. By the time the White Sox emerge victorious, 11 participants were ejected from the game. In the days after, 16 players and coaches were suspended -- the largest suspension in MLB history.
