The long anticipated trade of Nomar Garciaparra is finally accomplished as the Red Sox shortstop is traded to the Cubs as a four-team deal which includes the Twins and Expos. Boston acquires shortstop Orlando Cabrera (Expos) and first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz (Twins).

Roger Clemens is ejected from the little league game of his son, Kacy, for arguing a call and spitting sunflower seeds at an umpire's leg.
