Michael Vick Debuts At Eagles Practice
Michael Vick made his first appearance on the Eagles practice field Saturday, his first action since serving an 18-month sentence for dogfighting.
Vick was the fourth quarterback to take part in early drills, taking only one snap in which he threw a short pass over the middle against no defense.
While dozens of protesters were on hand to voice their disapproval with the Eagles signing Vick, only four were outside the facility for his first practice.
Vick practiced only at quarterback. Said coach Andy Reid: "That's what Michael is. Michael's a quarterback."
A three-timer Pro Bowl pick with the Falcons, Vick was reinstated last month by commissioner Roger Goodell.
Eagles starting quarterback Donovan McNabb (5) lobbied for the team to sign the free-agent.
Vick signed a one-year deal with the Eagles for $1.6 million. The team has an option for a second year at $5.2 million.
With McNabb entrenched as the starter and Kevin Kolb his backup, Reid has not ruled out the Eagles using Vick as a gimmick player rather than just a QB. Vick has eight 100-yard rushing games.
