Boston's Jerry Remy records six hits in 10 at bats during the Red Sox's 20-inning victory over the Mariners. The game was suspended after 19 innings and completed the following night.

At the State Farm Classic, Annika Sorenstam ties the LPGA record for the lowest final-round score by a tournament winner with a 62. Down five strokes at the start of play, Sorenstam shoots 10-under for the day to finish 19 under, two strokes ahead of Cristie Kerr.
