VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -? U.S. Olympic champion Ryan Lochte won the 100-meter freestyle in 50.97 seconds Sunday night in the Mel Zajac Jr. International Canada Cup and lost a tight race to Canada's Russell Wood in the 100 backstroke.
Lochte won four of his six races in the three-day meet.
"This meet has been really good for me, just getting back up on the blocks and racing," Lochte said. "It doesn't matter what kind of meet it is ... racing the people next to you, it was a really good experience for me and I'm heading in the right direction. There's a lot of things I still need to work on. I have one more month to make sure I tweak all those little things in my races."
