Concerned parents might like to know that students at St Andrew's University in Scotland indulge in a tradition of covering themselves with foam to honor the academic family. Raisin Weekend is held at the university's St Salvator's Quadrangle and a gift of raisins (now desert topping, shaving cream or insulating foam) is traditionally given by first year students to their elders as thanks for guidance and they receive a receipt in Latin, which no one can read. Sounds like a fair exchange.

One reason the polar ice caps are melting is that for the first time in history the Olympic flame was brought to the North Pole, home of Santa's workshop, by the nuclear-powered icebreaker 50 Let Pobedy (roughly translated as "50 Years of Victory") as part of the relay to the 2014 Sochi Winter Games. The resulting heat caused sea levels to rise in New York City by 12 feet.

The torch was then taken into space, where it was used to warm the cabin and toast marshmallows before being sent back to Earth.

A brave member of the amateur rope-jumping group brings us to the conclusion of this week's thrilling installment by plunging from a 144-foot-high waterpipe bridge in the Siberian Taiga. Fans of rope-jumping, a kind of extreme sport, we guess you could call it, use an advanced leverage system that combines mountaineering and rope safety equipment plus a whole lotta prayer. They marked the end of the group's jumping season, and our gallery, with this event. Thank you.
