Four teams in the hunt for MJD
Former Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew has seen his free-agent market heat up in the last week, with as many as four teams now vying for his services. The Jets, Patriots, Steelers and Dolphins are all said to be interested in the UCLA product, who left Jacksonville after eight years with the franchise. Jones-Drew has already visited Pittsburgh. The 29-year-old running back has rushed for 8,071 career yards in 114 games, but averaged just 53.5 yards in 15 games last season. Jones-Drew's career-high in yards came in 2011, with 1,606 yards on 343 totes. (New York Daily News)Comment
Pistons' Dumars done at year's end?
The end of the season could be the end of the line for Pistons general manager Joe Dumars. According to team owner Tom Gores, decisions on the franchise's future, particularly Dumars' status as president of basketball operations, will be made soon after the regular season concludes on April 16. Dumars, whose contract expires this year, could see his 13-year tenure as the Pistons' GM expire. Under Dumars, the team won an NBA title in 2004, but has sagged to a 26-44 mark this season and is well out of the playoff picture. (MLive)Comment
Harvey wins rehab battle with Mets
Matt Harvey won't be staying in Florida to rehab his surgically repaired elbow. Instead, the Mets' ace will work out in New York City, a decision that prompted a brief clash with team officials. Harvey, who is currently on the disabled list after undergoing Tommy John surgery last summer, is currently in camp with the Mets in Florida, but wanted to continue his rehab in New York, against the team's wishes. Harvey, however, has the right to choose his rehab locale, as stipulated in MLB's Collective Bargaining Agreement. (New York Post)Comment
