Arkansas-Little Rock athletic director resigns after inappropriate comments
Arkansas-Little Rock athletic director Chris Peterson resigned after being caught on tape making inappropriate comments during a women's soccer game last month.
The game between UALR and Chicago State was played on Aug. 22. According to THV11, an UALR official released the video from that game in which a male voice is heard making an inappropriate comment about a female soccer player's mother. (Audio of Peterson's comments can be heard here.)
Peterson was the school's athletic director for 14 years and his resignation will take effect Sept. 15. Peterson apologized for his remarks and said that he will be more "thoughtful, sensitive and conscientious" of his actions moving forward.
"I have apologized to the parties that may have been offended by my remarks and fully acknowledge my words were insensitive and out of line. I've learned a hard lesson," Peterson said in a statement.
Chancellor Joel E. Anderson said the search for a permanent replacement will start later this month and did not expect to comment further on the matter.
