SI High School Athlete of the Month: Kate Marshall

Sports Illustrated traveled to York, Maine on Dec. 18 to honor York High sophomore, Kate Marshall as December's SI High School Athlete of the Month, presented by the U.S. Marine Corps. The starting center midfielder for the Wildcats’ girls’ soccer team, Kate also has cystic fibrosis, a chronic, life-threatening genetic disease. Along with her father Patrick, mother Martha and brother Chase, she was honored at half-time of a home basketball game with a framed copy of the issue she appeared in earlier this month. Kate also received a surprise video message of congratulations from former NFL quarterback and prominent CF awareness advocate, Boomer Esiason.
