The Palio Di Siena
The Palio Di Siena
Twice a year, every July and August, 10 mixed-breed horses and their saddleless riders can compete for the honor of their respective districts in the Palio Di Siena. It lasts 90 seconds, three times around, but generates feuds that continue for decades. This year, the Torre neighborhood rider Andrea Mari and his horse Morosita Prima, (in purple) won the July run and photographer Ronald C. Modra was there to catch the action.
