A tag team match at WWE Payback on Sunday was halted after a serious, unscripted head injury to Enzo Amore.

Amore was thrown out of the ring during the match, when his body became tangled in the ring ropes. His head then hit the mat, and a referee signaled with an “X” that the injury was serious. He appeared to be unconscious.

The match was stopped, and Enzo was stretchered off.

During the next match, announcer Michael Cole reported that Amore was being transported to a nearby hospital, and was awake and speaking. He was diagnosed with a concussion.

Around four hours later, the WWE said that Amore had been released from the hospital.

Enzo and Big Cass were taking on the Vaudevillains in the finals the tag team tournament that would determine the No. 1 contenders.
