Officially known as the T-Mobile NBA Rookie Challenge, the colloquially known rookie-sophomore game began in 2000. Before that, the game was composed entirely of first-year players. The event, which is a celebration of the league's stellar young talent, pits rookies against a team of second-year players. The game has featured several future superstars: Allen Iverson, Amar'e Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony and now John Wall stand among the select few who have been honored with the game's MVP award.
