Mark Jackson was named the new head coach of the Golden State Warriors on June 6. Though it's Jackson's first coaching job, he's been a part of the basketball landscape for the past quarter-century. The Queens, N.Y., native played four seasons at St. John's, beginning in 1983, and was part of Red Storm coach Lou Carnesecca's only Final Four team, in 1985.

Two fan-favorites squared off when Jackson's Nuggets faced Mugsey Bogues' Charlotte Hornets in 1997. Jackson was traded to the Nuggets in a deal that included Jalen Rose, but only stayed in Denver for 52 games.

"Mama, there goes that man!" Jackson's signature phrase can be applied to his recent flight from ABC and ESPN to the head coaching seat of the Golden State Warriors. Jackson's hiring marks the 11th coach for the Warriors since 1995.
