The NBA announced Sunday that Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and Heat coach Erik Spoelstra will coach the Western and Eastern Conference teams, respectively, in the 2013 All-Star Game at the Toyota Center in Houston on Sunday, Feb. 17.

Popovich has previously coached the Western Conference in 2005 and 2011; this will mark Spoelstra's first All-Star coaching opportunity. Two Spurs will be in the game: Tim Duncan and Tony Parker, both selected as Western Conference reserves. Three Heat players will represent the East: LeBron James and Dwyane Wade were voted in by fans as starters while Chris Bosh was selected as a reserve.

Coaches for the All-Star Game are determined by the teams with the best record in games played through Feb. 3. Popovich's Spurs are 38-11, good for the NBA's best record. Spoelstra's Heat hold the top record in the East at 30-14. Last year's coaches -- Scott Brooks of the Thunder and Tom Thibodeau of the Bulls -- were not eligible to be selected, per league rules.

Popovich, 64, has coached four title-winning teams: 1999, 2003, 2005 and 2007. Spoelstra, 42, won his first title as a head coach in 2012.
